_INDIAN PREFERENCE_: Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC, Section 472). _FORMER FEDERAL EMPLOYEES_: Former Federal Employees are required to indicate whether they received a Voluntary Separation Incentive Payment (VSIP) buyout in their previous employment with the Federal government, and are required to submit a copy of the applicable Notification of Personnel Action (SF-50) regarding the VSIP. _SUMMARY OF DUTIES_:
Provide casework services to assist with problems resulting from broken homes, disorganized family life, or emotional problems.
Discuss family problems with clients analyzing factors contributing to family problems and independently develops a casework plan aimed at motivating persons toward the full use of available resources, the attainment of self-confidence, and self-sufficiency.
Administer general assistance in an assigned area.
Interviews, review resources, determine eligibility, and sets up financial plans for applicants qualifying for general assistance.
Certifies clients to the Tribal Work Experience Program and provides counseling services to these clients when they seek such services or when notified that client is experiencing difficulty working under the program.
Conduct office interviews and makes home visits reviewing the resources and to assess the social environment of the home to determine continued eligibility for general assistance.
Conduct on-site visits at assigned areas (communities) to provide general assistance in remote areas.
Initiates or cooperates in joint planning services to families and children with Tribal, State, Federal, and other local agencies.
Initiates and/or cooperates with other agency branches and public welfare agencies in helping clients take advantage of local, state, and federal social services programs.
Maintains case records, letters, and prepares reports and recommendations as required

_GS-8_: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the normal line of progression.
_GS-7_: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the normal line of progression _ OR _ 1 full academic year of graduate education in social sciences.
_GS-6_: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the normal line of progression.
_SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE_: Specialized experience is experience in a program of direct Social Welfare Services that required the application of program policy and operations knowledge in providing social welfare services and/or assisting social workers.
_FOREIGN EDUCATION_ : If you are using foreign education to meet qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education.
Qualifying education from colleges and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities. Applicants educated in whole or in part in foreign countries must submit sufficient evidence, including transcripts, to an accredited private organization for an equivalency evaluation of course work and degree. You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evalution upon request. Failure to provide such documentation when requested will result in lost consideration.

_SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS_: A background security investigation will be required for all new hires. _OTHER_: Incumbent is required to operate a government-owned or leased motor vehicle, in the performance of duties, therefore, a valid driver's license is required. Incumbent must have a safe driving record within the three-year period immediately preceding submittal of GSA Form 3607 and be able to meet the safe driving requirements of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
